What is TechnoKids?
TechnoKids Computer Curriculum is a collection of educational technology projects enriched with interesting computer activities that will fully engage students of all ages, promoting active learning and enhancing both creative and critical thinking.
A technology project consists of theme-based activities and comes with a teacher guide, student workbook and a wide selection of customizable resources such as templates, samples, assessment tools, enrichment activities, Internet bookmarks, parent letters, and a lot more! Offering computer curriculum for primary, junior, middle and high school students, its interdisciplinary activities target learning objectives from diverse subject areas like science, mathematics, social studies, geography, history, visual arts, language, or drama.
TechnoKids uses project-based learning
TechnoKids Computer Curriculum uses a project-based approach to learning. Instead of students learning technology skills in isolation, they learn them in the context of completing a project. This methodology enables teachers to deliver relevant and current technology and core computing skills to students.
TechnoKids play a huge factor in the transformation of a boring classroom environment into an interactive one. Because students actively engage themselves in the learning process, they become more independent, creative, and critical thinkers.
Components of Project-based learning that TechnoKids promote
Interdisciplinary: Projects are interdisciplinary because they combine knowledge and skills from multiple subject areas such as language arts, mathematics, science, geography, history, visual arts, and social studies.
Collaboration: Projects often require collaboration between the student and teacher or the student and their peers.
Inquiry: Projects often include an investigation into a problem to discover viable solutions with the search guided by a series of questions.
Motivational: Projects are often motivational to students because they are personally meaningful. During a project, students are actively engaged in the learning process, by selecting a topic of personal interest, picking the type of finished product, or contributing to the assessment of completed work. This encourages them to become involved in learning.
Self Directed Learning: During a project, the teacher often assumes the role of a facilitator. The teacher will help students gain an understanding of the assignment including the learning objectives, timeline, and criteria.
Learning Style: Projects allow students to choose learning styles that are the most effective.
Critical & Creative Thinking: Projects often require students to engage in higher-order thinking skills.
Technology Integration: Projects offer an opportunity to integrate the use of technology.
